Ivan Mosiagin was born on April 26th, 1996, in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. His interest in chemistry started in high school when he participated in chemistry Olympiads.

He received his B.Sc. (2017) and M.Sc. (2019) in organic chemistry in the group of Prof. Alexander Khlebnikov at the Institute of Chemistry of Saint-Petersburg State University, Russia. There Ivan worked on the synthetic application of 2H-azirines, synthesis of polyaromatic compounds, and their photophysical properties.

From 2019 to 2021 he conducted research under the guidance of Prof. Nuno Maulide in Vienna State University, Austria, where he worked on the chemistry of onium salts.

In early 2021, Ivan joined the group of Prof. Dmitry Katayev. His current research interest includes the design of novel nitrating reagents and their synthetic applications.
