Sayan completed his bachelor’s degree at Vidyasagar University, followed by a master’s degree at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata. He obtained his PhD from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata, under the supervision of Prof. Biplab Maji on photo-catalysis.
In April 2026, he moved to Switzerland and joined the group of Dmitry Katayev at the University of Bern. His research interests focus on developing innovative approaches to solve complex problems in chemistry via mechanochemistry.
Outside of research, he enjoys traveling, cycling, and exploring nature and open roads. He is also a passionate football and cricket fan, inspired by Lionel Messi, and a proud supporter of the Indian Cricket Team.
