Yining Zhu was born in 1997 in Zhejiang Province, China. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Materials Chemistry from the Harbin Institute of Technology. In 2021, he began his research under Professor Wujiong Xia at the same institute, focusing on iron photocatalysis for C-H activation and decarboxylation. In September 2024, Zhu relocated to Bern, Switzerland, to join Professor Dmitry Katayev’s research group. Here, he is engaged in the investigation of novel nitrating reagents and the development of functional group transfer methodologies.
